Decent Cover Versions of Classic Tracks
I will normally prefer the original track by the original artist/s over a cover version. But occasionally, somebody will bring out a cover version, that gives the original track a little extra something. I’m not saying it’s better. . . just a bit different.
Spinning Jenny – Paint It Black
The Rolling Stones classic track from way back in 1966 – I wasn’t into rock music back then and very rarely listened to it. And don’t forget – there was a limited number of decent radio stations available at the time.
Honestly, I have no idea who Spinning Jenny are, but this was uploaded to Youtube in 2017, so fairly modern.

Sia – California Dreamin’
Cover of The Mama’s and Papa’s classic track from 1972 (sidenote: on the MPs same name album, they are performing covers of the Beatles and the Beach Boys).
This bigger, grander, Sia version was used in the movie ‘San Andreas’ which was released in 2015.
I wonder which artist/group have the most cover versions? The MPs must be close to the top of that list.
Bobby Womack – Sweet Caroline
This 1971 release by Neil Diamond must be one of the most sung records EVER. Known and loved ALL OVER THE WORLD.
The late Bobby Womack released this cover in 1972, but I seem to remember that it didn’t really take off until a few years later. RIP The Last Great Soul Man.
Back in the early 90s, in a well know local drinking hole on the Santa Monica Venice Beach – the whole bar erupted into song every time this was played on the juke box.

The artist/group with the most covers versions ? – seems to be Lennon & McCartney. Lots of various music sites with articles on this question – just do a quick search on any of your favourite search engines (O;
